The color blue is popular
it rhymes with everything
except for poodle, puddle, noodle,
car, and griffin wing

“All My Own Stunts”
You always were the perfect child
perfect figure, perfect face
Perfect A's
throughout high school
Would I want your life
Not for a minute
If you want my life
well, you can be in it
I do all my own stunts
ride my own rollercoaster
travel shore to shore
like that girl on the poster
I do all my own stunts
played with a fire or two
I do all my own stunts
Come and try a few
I’ve charged into a waterfall
Dove o’er the edge,
went hiking in the rain
Touched my lips to the ledge..
– to be continued

no kiss at the airport
no touch beside the bed
no whispered affection
among the words they said
he didn’t even know her
thought she was some friend of mine
she’s never been to his apartment
it’s going on month nine
they were wed
twenty-five years ago
but somewhere they lost the fire
started dying with each other
Their daughter states her vows
a union carved by grace
bands wrapped round her finger
a smile upon her face
as his eyes are upon her
she wonders where he’s gone
calls to mind their stated promises
perhaps its been too long
they were wed
twenty-five years ago
but somewhere they lost the fire
started dying with each other
